New to Los Angeles?
Anyone who has ever picked up roots and moved to a new city knows that it can be a discombobulating and confusing time. If you've come for a new job then you have something to anchor you but if you've come to Los Angeles to pursue your dreams you may have no idea where to place those transplanted roots.
LA is a different kind of city from most as it has many neighborhoods smoothly shifting into each other with only locals being able to distinguish the hard boundaries. Here is a great overview of some of those neighborhoods and what makes them unique!
Aside from neighborly lore and opinion, a good way to find your new LA home is to look at the areas where your dream jobs will unfold. If you are an actor or film/tv industry person it may make sense to look at Hollywood as well as Burbank or even Studio City for the studios' proximity.
Make your decisions based on the life around you too. Is it important to be able to walk to the grocers, restaurants, and clubs? Check the WalkScore before you make your choices.
Finally consider transportation are you a car owner, ridesharer, or public transport person?
Knowing what will make your day to day life easiest and most fulfilling will go a long way to making you feel at home. Welcome to Los Angeles!
